Position summary:  Sales Engineers manage technology and sales support throughout all aspects of the sales cycle while continually identifying revenue opportunities. The Sales Engineer provides technical sales support and ensures both customer understanding and satisfaction with FiberPlus, Inc. products and services.

 

Position responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 1) Builds and maintains a pipeline of active and qualified accounts; 2) Establishes and retains knowledge of products and service offerings; 3) Presents sales proposals, product demonstrations, and ROI analyses to persuasively illustrate the benefits of proposed solutions; 4) Adapts product/solution offerings to meet client needs; 5) Conducts site examinations, as necessary, to ensure thorough understanding of client site and needs; 6) Prepares documents such as drawings and specifications to accurately determine scope by project, to include materials, labor, Request for Proposal (RFP) responses, Statement of Work (SOW), and submittals; 7) Resolves customer questions/issues; 8) Prepares estimate spreadsheets; 9) Reviews credit balances, refunds, adjustments, and claim denials; reconciles, corrects and applies adjustments to billing records; 10) Prepares necessary documentation to support in the collections and billing process; 11) Provides customer service regarding collection issues; 12) Resolves client discrepancies and short payments; 13) Acquires materials and parts as needed; 14) Studies sales records and inventory; and 15) Reconciles customer disputes as they pertain to payment of outstanding balances.

 

Essential skills and experience: Minimum 5 years in the low voltage integration field including, but not limited to: CCTV systems, access control, voice systems, fiber optic and copper cabling, integration and installation. Position requires a proven level of sales volume in excess of $1million per year and experience in business development for commercial and federal markets with a proficiency in construction, electrical and engineering drawings.  The position requires an ability to build excellent client relationships and to influence decision makers.  Should be well networked within the telecommunications industry (vendors, manufacturers, and distributors) and be membership affiliated within the trade industry.  Position also requires an in-depth of knowledge of current industry standards and industry related product lines. An ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, a sense of urgency, and the ability to follow-up are essential.  Closing, prospecting, sales planning, and presentation skills are required.  Position also requires the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.  The position requires a demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, including a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and general experience with other programs in the Microsoft Office Suite. Also requires attention to detail and excellent customer and communication service skills.  Position requires flexible working hours and travel, including to customer job sites.

 

Must be able to pass a background check and/or have the ability to get a government issued clearance. A clean driving record is required, and candidate must provide a DMV record.  Drug screening is required. Ability to obtain and maintain Virginia state Electronic Security Sales registration with DCJS is required. Current Virginia DCJS Electronic Security Sales registration is a plus.

 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required. Manufacturer certification for multiple product lines such as Corning, AMP, Sumitomo, Mohawk, Belden, etc. is a plus. BICSI certification is also a plus.

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:  While performing the duties of this position, the Sales Engineer is frequently required to sit; talk; hear; and use hands, arms, and fingers to type. The Sales Engineer is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to feel, finger, or grasp objects or tools; crouch, crawl, and kneel; and reach with hands and arms.  The Sales Engineer may occasionally be expected to lift and/or move up to15 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, ability to adjust focus, and the ability to focus on a CRT or LCD computer monitor for lengthy periods of time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
