Intrusion Detection with UL 2050 Installation and Monitoring

UL 2050

UL 2050 installation and monitoring keeps your facility safer.

If you have valuables in your facility that are left unguarded at night, then just locking the doors may not be enough security. You may want to consider installing a UL 2050 intrusion detection system. FiberPlus is a designated CRZH certified UL 2050 installer. This means that we have been tested and approved by the Underwriter’s Laboratory to design and install intrusion detection systems according to the UL 681 and ICD 705 standards. We also provide central station monitoring to all ICD 705 intrusion detection systems, so you know that if there is a break-in, we’ll respond immediately to the threat. When we design a UL 2050 intrusion detection system, there are three areas we consider: intrusion detection, alarm signal processing, and alarm signal monitoring.

Intrusion Detection

Intrusion detection deals with the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A UL 2050 intrusion detection system will guard all points of access of the SCIF, including walls, doors, and windows, using careful placement of ceiling mounted motion detectors, passive infrared motion detectors, and Class II door contacts. If any of these alarms are triggered, a signal goes to monitoring agents who act immediately upon the signal. This way, your SCI is kept safe.

Alarm Signal Processing

When an alarm signal is triggered, the signal is processed by the alarm panel or Computer Processing Unit (CPU). The CPU generates an encrypted alarm signal via a network connection, which it then sends back to the central monitoring station. The alarm signal is encrypted to a 128 or 256 bit encryption level.

Alarm Signal Monitoring

The alarm signal is sent to a central monitoring station that is approved by the Department of Defense and has a CRZM designation. These types of monitoring stations are constantly manned by cleared operators who are specially trained to respond to a UL 2050 alarm signal. Within 90 seconds of receiving an alarm signal, the operator will respond according to the alarm protocol that you have chosen. This fast response ensures that your SCI will be kept under the maximum protection available.
