Position summary: An Electronic Security Technician has a strong technical background and is skilled in the most current installation, testing, termination, and maintenance procedures for electronic security systems devices, access control devices, Intrusion Detection, Perimeter Fencing, Automated Gate, and CCTV systems at commercial and/or government facilities. This position requires travel in the State of Virginia. Honeywell experience is a must.
Position responsibilities: The responsibilities of an Electronic Security Technician include, but are not limited to: 1) Maintains an awareness and understanding of the most current installation, testing, and termination procedures for various components of electronic security systems, access control devices, and CCTV systems; 2) Installs, tests, maintains, and upgrades electronic security systems, access control devices, and CCTV systems, to include both equipment and infrastructure; 3) Assists in and is responsible for the successful completion of all assigned projects within the scope of their work area; 4) Familiar with and cares for the various types of materials and tools needed to complete tasks; 5) Recognizes and provides immediate solutions for onsite changes in system integrations in the construction of buildings from start to closure; 6) Reads building, electrical, and other blueprints, as required; 7) Follows proper schematic wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures; 8) Works with other Technicians to run wire and install peripheral devices in accordance with instructions of devices; and 9) Interacts with customers and vendors in a positive, timely, and professional manner.
Essential skills and experience: Electronic Security Technicians must have at least two years experience in the electronic security systems industry with a working knowledge of, but not limited to, the following: access control, CCTV, and intrusion detection. A strong familiarization with Relay Logic and Applied Theory and experience in IP surveillance is preferred. Electronic Security Technicians must have basic electrical knowledge and be able to understand both verbal and written instruction. Electronic Security Technicians should be familiar with and be able to use both hand and power tools to accomplish assigned tasks and have the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Communication and customer service skills are required. Compliance with Virginia DCJS and MD State Police standards is required. Experience and/or certification in particular products, such as Pelco, GE Security, DMP, and Galaxy, is also a plus. Honeywell experience is a must. Electronic Security Technicians must have the ability to work in both premise and OSP environments (work from ladders, lifts, manholes, confined spaces and bucket trucks up to 30’ may be required) and must be able to work overtime, weekends, after hours, and travel as needed. Must be able to work 24/7 service call as required.
Must be able to pass a background check and/or have the ability to get a government issued clearance. A clean driving record is required and candidate must provide a DMV record. Drug screening is required. U.S. citizenship may also be required. Ability to obtain and maintain registration with Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services as an Electronic Security Technician is required. Current registration with Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services is a plus.
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent is required. Certifications in AMAG, Hirsch, Pelco, Panasonic, Onssi, Genetec, Verint, or any others a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing duties of the job, Electronic Security Technicians will frequently be required to stand; walk; sit; bend; stoop; kneel; climb; pull; push; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The Electronic Security Technician will also frequently be required to lift a minimum of 75 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment usually moderate,but can become heavy or high depending on the equipment being used at the particular work site.
