Position summary: The Controller will have strong communication skills and will be capable of building the day to day financial infrastructure to anchor our continued growth. The Controller will report to the CFO and will work collaboratively with other key stakeholders regarding finance related issues and manages direct reports. The ideal candidate will think strategically while acting tactically.
Position responsibilities: The Controller duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following: managing the overall accounting functions, preparing and analyzing financial statements, preparing and monitoring the budgeting process, financial analysis and reporting, advising the Executive Team on finance measures, insurance, bonding and banking relations, job cost reporting and projections.
Perform all finance and accounting reporting matters including, monthly/quarterly/annual closings; budgeting; forecasting, payroll, A/P, A/R, revenue recognition, cash management/treasury and vendor management and job cost postings.
Manage banking, partner vendor relationships.
Ensure timeliness, accuracy and usefulness of financial and management reporting for the CFO and Board of Directors. Prepare and communicate regular financial information to Executive Management Team.
Develop, analyze and interpret statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the company.
Applicants must have construction accounting experience, 10+ years of solid accounting management experience, expert knowledge of SAGE /ABRA software at least a bachelor’s degree in business accounting, strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, strong attention to detail and time management skills as well as being proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Knowledge of the WIP calculations. Applicants familiar with FAR a plus.
Essential skills and experience: 8+ years of progressive finance experience; including general accounting, financial statement preparation and reconciliations. 4+ years of experience as a corporate controller preferred. Strong management, interpersonal and communication skills. Highly organized and detail oriented.
Must be able to pass a background check. Drug screening is also required.
OPPORTUNITY: Position has growth track to CFO, Ability to get hands into all areas of Finance and Accounting to enhance skillset while working with interim CFO, Exposure to Sr Management
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. CPA certification preferred
Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the Controller is frequently required to sit; talk; hear; and use hands, arms, and fingers to type. The Controller is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to feel, finger, or grasp objects or tools; crouch, crawl, and kneel; and reach with hands and arms. The Controller may occasionally be expected to lift and/or move up to15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, ability to adjust focus, and the ability to focus on a CRT or LCD computer monitor for lengthy periods of time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
