Position summary: The Assistant Controller will have strong communication skills and will be capable of managing day to day accounting functions. The Assistant Controller will report to the CFO and will work collaboratively with other key stakeholders regarding finance related issues. The ideal candidate will have firm grasp on construction accounting and job costing as well as strong management and supervision skills, to manage a small team.
Position responsibilities: The Controller duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following: managing the overall accounting functions, preparing journal entries, reconciling and analyzing accounts. Supervise all finance and accounting reporting matters including, monthly/quarterly/annual closings; payroll, A/P, A/R, revenue recognition, cash management/treasury and vendor management and job cost postings. Ensure timeliness, accuracy and usefulness of financial and management reporting for the CFO.
Applicants must have at least three years of construction accounting experience, 2-3 years of solid accounting supervision experience, at least a bachelor’s degree in business accounting, communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, strong attention to detail and time management skills as well as being proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Knowledge of the Work in process schedule and over/under billing calculation. Knowledge of Sage 100 cloud (formerly Mas 90) and FAR is a plus.
Essential skills and experience: 8+ years of progressive finance experience; including general accounting, financial statement preparation and reconciliations. 2 years of supervisory experience preferred. Strong management, interpersonal and communication skills. Highly organized and detail oriented.
Must be able to pass a background check. Drug screening is also required.
