There’s a lot that goes into a fiber installation project. Every time we are tasked with a new fiber installation project, our project managers are present in every part of the installation. Here’s what goes into the project management that fuels a successful fiber installation.
Planning and Design
The first step to making sure that any project goes smoothly is to start off with a foundation of solid design. This is where the RCDD comes in. An RCDD, or Registered Communications Distribution Designer, creates the detailed plans for a new fiber optic cabling system. These plans have to be perfect to avoid mishaps during the installation process. The RCDD remains present throughout the entire installation process to make sure that everything is running smoothly.
Community Outreach
Of course, every state, region, county, and town has their own specific laws regarding what can and cannot be installed. For example, many urban areas have specific laws regarding aerial fiber deployments, since it takes space and time to strengthen the deployments and may interfere with regulations set by local planning authorities. Each community is different, which is why it’s our job to reach out and make sure that we are following all the right procedures before we even begin the job.
Continuous Inspection and Correction
After the proper documents have been submitted, all the necessary tools have been procured, and the design has been checked and double-checked, we’re ready to begin with the actual installation. Proper project management dictates that the project manager be present and active throughout the installation process. We pay close attention to detail as we work our way through the installation, continuously inspecting that everything is in working order and making corrections immediately if something is amiss. By the end of the project, you have a solid fiber optic system that you can rely on.
