Carl Strobel, Chairman of the Board
Carl founded FiberPlus, Inc in February 1992. Carl is the owner and Chairman of the Board and before that he was President and Chief Executive Officer. Carl remains active in the company, reviewing FiberPlus’ structure and methods of operations and identifying potential markets for future growth. Carl retired from the United States Navy as a Commander after serving for 21 years. Carl received several honors for his Naval service including the Combat Action Ribbon and Air Medal for combat support flights over North Vietnam. After the Navy Carl worked in the intelligence community and realized the importance of digital technology and the evolution of fiber optics. Carl received a four year degree from the University of Southern California and has done additional studies at the graduate level. Carl serves on several Boards and also volunteers his time at local high schools and colleges helping them with programs teaching today’s technology. Carl used to fly hot air balloons, often donating rides to charitable organizations, and now enjoys time with his family and friends.
John Goode, President and Chief Executive Officer
In 2000 John began his career at FiberPlus as the Chief Financial Officer. In 2016 the Board of Directors elected John to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer. John provides strategic leadership and works with his managers to establish long term goals, policies, processes and procedures. Prior to joining FiberPlus John worked for 8 years at The CFO Group as President. John is a graduate of Loyola University in Baltimore and earned degrees in Accounting and Business Administration. John is graduate of Calvert Hall High School. John earned his CPA certification in 1986. John spends time with his family and competes in triathlons when he’s not working.
Tom Caswell, Vice President
Tom is the Vice President of FiberPlus, Inc. He is responsible for the management and oversight of all FiberPlus offices and is primarily responsible for the operations and contract management of the company. Tom began his career at FIberPlus in 1994. He began his career as a Team Leader and he has served in many capacities since then including Estimator, Project Manager and Director of Operations. Tom was appointed Vice President in 2006. Tom graduated from the University of Baltimore in 1988. When not working, Tom enjoys windsurfing, sailing, fishing and reading.
Mark Wharton, Director of Sales & Marketing
In 2014 Mark joined FiberPlus as the Director of Sales & Marketing. Mark’s responsibilities include leading the sales team and managing the marketing for FiberPlus. Mark began his career in 1984 as a cable technician and transitioned into management in 1986. Mark works with his team to ensure the customer is getting the best solution for the best value. Mark spends his free time with his family and his German Sheppard, he also enjoys traveling in his travel trailer, attending concerts and cooking.
John Mearman, Operations Manager, Jessup, MD
John began his career with FiberPlus in 1992 and was one of the first employees at FiberPlus, Inc. He started his career as a technician and has since held several positions at FiberPlus including Installation Supervisor, Project Manager and Senior Project Manager. In 2013 John was promoted to Operations Manager. John is responsible for all aspects of the Operations Department including supervising and managing all operations staff and the P&L of all projects. Prior to joining FiberPlus, John was in the United States Navy, Submarine Service, and achieved the rank of Petty Officer. John spends his evenings and weekends working with the Boy Scouts of America as a Scout Master and he also enjoys canoeing, camping and blacksmithing.
Jim Kwiatkowski, Branch Manager, Richmond, VA
Jim began his career at FiberPlus as the Operations Manager of the Richmond office in 2006. After one year Jim became the Branch Manager of the office and is now responsible for all sales, operations and P&L. Jim has been in the structured cabling and security business for over 25 years and graduated from SUNY Farmingdale in 1991. Jim enjoys spending time with his family and playing hockey and golf when he’s not working.
Doug Hyde, Operations Manager, Columbus, OH
Doug joined FiberPlus in September 2015 when FiberPlus opened its office in Columbus, OH. Doug is responsible for the day to day activities including sales, operations and P&L for the Columbus office. Doug is a Registered Communications Distribution Designer and has completed a two year electrical program. Doug holds an Ohio Fire Alarm license and is certified in Distributed Antenna Systems by Andrews and Solid Technologies. On his time off Doug enjoys woodworking, hunting and boating.
Mike Lyons, Senior Security Systems Engineer
Mike is the Senior Security Systems Engineer at FiberPlus. He started his career with FiberPlus, Inc. in 2011. Mike works with customers to help provide solutions for their electronic security systems needs. In addition to assisting customers with solutions, Mike is also is responsible for the management of all aspects of security engineering, processes, and P&L for the security division. Mike served in the United States Marine Corps and enjoys fishing, golf, and music.
Steve Bass, Distributed Antenna System SME, Richmond, VA
Steve is FiberPlus’ Subject Matter Expert for Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS.) Steve has worked at FiberPlus since 2013. Steve is a Registered Communications Distribution Designer and has several certifications from various DAS equipment manufacturers. Prior to working at FiberPlus, Steve worked for JDR Communications and Amerilink Corporation. Steve graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Science in Business and a Master of Business Administration degree and received an honorable discharge from the United Sates Air Force. Steve serves on the Parents Council at Virginia Military Institute and enjoys golfing and watching baseball, football and college basketball.
