Fiber Technician Level I

Fiber Technician (I) is responsible for the installation, termination and testing of a variety of fiber optic cables. Candidate must have the ability to read, interpret and understand design blueprints, drawings, site prints and cut sheets. Individuals must be able to prep, terminate, polish and test using a variety of mechanical connectors such as SC, ST, LC, FC and MTRJ. Individual must be able to use and understand an OPLS/Power meter and prepare results for documentation. Interested candidate must be able to work in structured and OSP environments. Candidate must be able to pass a background check and or the ability to get a government issued clearance. A clean driving record is required and candidate must provide a DMV record. Drug screening is a condition of employment.

Fiber Technician Level II

Fiber Technician (II) is responsible for the installation, termination, and preparation work and splicing of a variety of fiber optic cables. Candidate must have the ability to read, interpret, and understand design blueprints, drawings, site prints, cut sheets and splice matrix. Individual must be able to prep, terminate, polish and test using a variety of mechanical connectors, SC, ST, FC, LC, MTRJ, etc. Fiber Techs are required to use and understand multiple testing devices, including but not limited to OTDR, Power Meter/Light Source. Candidate must understand decibel loss and have an understanding of acceptable readings in regards to customer spec’s and expectations. All readings must be authenticated and readied for final acceptance documentation. Individual must be familiar with Splicing equipment such as Sumitomo T-37 and Fujuikura FSM-30. Candidate must be able to work after hours and in both structured and OSP environments. Candidate must be able to pass a background check and or the ability to get a government issued clearance. A clean driving record is required and candidate must provide a DMV record. Drug screening is required. The successful candidate must be a self- starter, motivated and possess leadership skills and project a positive attitude and have a solid technical background. The ability to manage labor, material and perform some administrative functions is essential. Preference will be given to those with strong organizational skills and with the ability to work independently.

Technician Level I

Technician I is an entry level position that requires positive attitude, good motor skills, ability to meet physical demands and a willingness to learn cabling skills that can lead to a career. A high school education or equivalent experience in the technical or mechanical construction arena is required, with some related telephony/communications experience a plus. A Technician I will take direction from a Technician II and Crew Leaders. The successful candidate must be a self- starter and motivated.

Technician Level II

Technician II requires a high school education and six years of general construction experience of which four years is specialized in structured cabling; or Associates Degree and four years of general construction experience of which two years is specialized in structured cabling; or Bachelor of Science degree and two years of general construction experience of which one year is specialized in structured cabling. Technician II are required to successfully working closely with customers, training Technician I and leading small teams of technicians on projects.

Medical Insurance
FIBERPLUS, Inc. offers a choice of two types of medical plans:

  • The FIBERPLUS Inc. POS Plan
    The Point of Service (POS) plan allows employees to direct their own care by choosing an in-network or out-of-network provider at the time they seek care. In-network benefits provide comprehensive medical benefits with no deductible covered at 100%.  Co-pays apply.  A deductible applies for out-of-network care.

  • The FIBERPLUS, Inc. HRA Plan
    In-network benefits under this plan provide comprehensive medical benefits with a deductible then are covered at 100%.  PCP and specialists visits are covered at 100% after meeting the deductible.  Out-of-network benefits require a deductible and then eligible expenses are covered at 80%.  FIBERPLUS Inc, contributes a portion of the deductible through a health reimbursement account.

Vision Coverage
The vision plan provides coverage for eye exams, eyeglasses and/or contact lenses.

Dental Insurance
FIBERPLUS Inc. offers a comprehensive dental plan that offers coverage for preventive, diagnostic & restorative, major and orthodontic services.

Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance
Life insurance in the amount of $25,000 is provided at no cost to all full-time benefit eligible employees.  Accidental Death and Dismemberment is covered at an equal amount to the life insurance benefit.  All coverage is guarantee issued – no medical questions asked.  Supplemental life insurance is also available for purchase for employees, spouses and dependents.

Disability Insurance
FIBERPLUS Inc. provides the opportunity for full-time benefit eligible employees to purchase disability insurance.  This disability coverage will provide income replacement if an employee is out of work due to an eligible non-work related injury or illness.

  • Short Term Disability
    The plan allows for benefits to begin the 15 consecutive day of disability due to an accident or an illness.  This plan would then pay 60% of your total weekly earnings up to a maximum of $1,000.  Benefits will continue until the date you return to work or 11 weeks, whichever is earlier.

  • Long Term Disability
    This plan allows for benefits to begin on the 90th consecutive day of disability due to an accident or an illness.  This plan would then pay 60% of your total weekly earnings up to a maximum of $2,500 per month.
401(k) Plan
All employees are eligible to enroll in the 401(k) plan following six (6 )months of service.  The plan offers the opportunity to save for long-term retirement needs while reducing the amount of pay subject to federal income tax.  The plan also allows for qualified rollover contributions, loan and withdrawals, subject to IRS restrictions.

Vacation Time
The following vacation allotment is offered to all full-time employees:

1-4 accrued at 2 weeks
5-14 accrued at 3 weeks
15 and over accrued at 4 weeks


Sick/Personal Leave
Each full-time employee is eligible to receive (40) sick/personal hours per year, prorated according to date of hire.

Bereavement Leave
FIBERPLUS Inc. provides up to three (3) days of leave when a death occurs in the employee’s immediate family.

Jury Duty Leave
All employees called to jury duty will be paid the difference between their regular earnings and jury pay for the time they serve for a maximum period of up to forty (40) business hours.

Military Leave
FIBERPLUS, Inc. employees are entitled to take an unpaid military leave of absence to serve in the uniformed services consistent with the requirements of the Uniform Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act.

Holiday Schedule
FIBERPLUS, Inc. recognizes ten (10) paid holidays per year.
