FiberPlus, Inc. is currently seeking enthusiastic candidates to fill a Fiber Technician position in Asia. 

Position summary:  The successful candidate will have strong background in fiber cabling, to include termination and splicing.

Position responsibilities: 

Fiber Technicians install, test, maintain, and upgrade various components of telecommunications systems, to include both equipment and infrastructure. They will assist in and are responsible for the successful completion of all assigned projects within the scope of their work area. They are familiar with and care for the various types of cabling materials and tools needed to complete tasks.   Fiber Technicians must be skilled in the many facets of the most current installation, termination, and testing procedures for both fiber and copper cabling, with a strong proficiency in fiber cabling.  Candidates will be responsible for the accurate testing, installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic cabling and cabling systems.

Essential skills and experience:

Experience in fiber splicing and termination should include but is not limited to the following: SC/LC/ST/FC/MTRJ, fusion splicing, and both Splice and Patch Panels.  Candidates should also be familiar with EIA/TIA-598 Color Coding standards and the use of various fiber optic testing instruments.  Candidates must be fluent in reading an OTDR trace bar with the ability to interpret results in order to troubleshoot and repair fiber cabling.  Preferred candidates will have basic electrical knowledge and must be able to understand both verbal and written instruction. Candidates should be familiar with and be able to use both hand and power tools to accomplish assigned tasks.

Education:   High School Diploma or Equivalent

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing duties of the job, Fiber Technician will frequently be required to stand; walk; sit; bend; stoop; kneel; climb; pull; push; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.  They will also frequently be required to lift a minimum of 50 pounds or more.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment usually moderate, but can become heavy or high depending on the equipment being used at the particular work site.
